HENRY JACOBY (March 23,
1838-July 1, 1863) bap. April 13, 1838. Unmarried. He taught school as
a young man, and then entered Ohio Wesleyan University in 1859, planning
to become a doctor. But he enlisted, Nov. 9, 1861, in Company D, 82nd Ohio
Infantry. He was promoted March 1, 1863, from first Sergeant to 2nd Lieutenant.
He was killed in the Battle of Gettysburg. On Aug. 11, 1864, his rank was
set as 1st Lieutenant. He was buried in the Worline-Jacoby graveyard.
