This information was obtained either from the original register book at the Woods National Cemetery or off the Cemetery Records On-line website by searching on “26th Wis” and similar terms. If a name was found in the book he may not be buried at Woods. Many bodies were shipped elsewhere from the Woods Soldiers Home after death. There are many discrepancies in the names between the 1865 roster and cemetery records- for example, Gottlieb Kraft is listed as Kraft Gottlieb and Lorenz Lacker is listed as Lorenz Lacker on the website. If a block number is listed then he is buried at Woods at that location. If not, he may not be buried there but he probably died and/or lived at Woods Home.
